And we are STUCK IN IT! MAY-BE, just MAYYYY-BE, definitive information about moving will come this week. If not, then we are talking definite delay. Which isn’t all bad!
This wait for the ‘official contract’ has given us time to make necessary repairs on the house (which take f.o.r.e.v.e.r!), make a huge list of to do’s “if we go,” and take a good, hard, reflective look at life at the current altitude.
One of the best things from the monstrous task of wading through 40 years of paper is
reconnecting with fragrant memories. I shedded/shredded at least 200 lbs of paper……but kept sweet birthday notes from my dad (resident of Heaven since 2000), special cards my boys made with then-small hands and big hearts, encouraging letters from difficult times, loving wishes from my now daughter. Birthday cards from the bestest of forever friends sparked joy, as well as Christmas greetings from casual friends who shared a specific slice of life with us along the road.
Also saved are clippings and documents of our kids’ joys – acceptance letters, scholarships, football touchdowns, state wrestling finals, awards, proms…a gillion cards from my loving mom, a few special letters from my talented brother, a special heartfelt handwritten ‘thank you’ from my sister….all of this LOVE is now in a nice manageable big box – a testament of the power of friendship and family. One day my kids may open this box and say, “WOW! She was really blessed.” This is a fact that I already know well.
There’s no doubt that a move (albeit temporary) to France will not be easy. My foremost concern is the space between my kids, my mom, our friends, and us. It’s hard to see what’s ahead and not just dwell on what’s in front of my face. However, this opportunity for mon marie’s career appears to be unfolding like a roll of freshly sodded grass. “TA-DA! Follow the yellow brick road!”
We believe that this is a temporary, wonderful opportunity and we’ll return all the more grateful for life in these United States of America, I’m sure. (ARG….I’ll have to start tap dancing all over as a beginner!!!!!!!! …..hahaha. That will kill me.)
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock…….maybe this week….
- 1 Thessalonians 5:18 …Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
You are *so* loved and I’m glad you feel it! Also, I’m super proud of you for setting a goal and tackling it like a champ. #missionaccomplished #playroomedition 😉
