You Eat Elephants One Bite at a Time

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK.  Now that THAT is out of my system…..

Wish you could have seen me last night, standing on the bed in pj’s banging my wooden back-scratcher on the A/C vent in the ceiling, trying to get the squirrels in the attic to PIPE DOWN!  (Great visual, huh?)

We have a good offer on our house!  In 24 hours!  Not sure if it will all work out, but sooooooo encouraging.  Countdown to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, 8/26 for their reply to our counter-offer………

Now starts the mandatory real-estate-mambo-#5 negotiation dance, so we’ll see what happens!  I’m telling you, God’s hand is everywhere in this.

AND guess what!

Just heard from mon marie that French Language Training begins next week, 5 hours a day, and we each have to take a TEST (an assessment, really) before beginning.  NOOOOO!  Désolé, je ne parle pas beaucoup de français! (I’m sorry, I don’t speak much French!)  (We will be with separate tutors, one on one – my tutor’s name is Hortense and she is VERY FRENCH.)

Packers/movers coming September 19-21…THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING. No word from the apartment-hunting-people yet…..remember, it is still AUGUST IN FRANCE.  NO WORK ALLOWED!  🙂 My to-do list looks like a scroll that would roll across the floor.  There are no words to describe the action items needing to be done, right.this.minute!!!!!

At the end of the day, I know there will be many miles between us and our loved ones, and that’s really and intensely hard.  I can only trust that there will be sunsets like below to help ease that ache, as well as TECHNOLOGY – Skype, Viber, and the like – to connect us face to face.  Pony Express and the USPS were great, but it doesn’t compare to instant messaging and email!  [BTW, UPS does deliver to CF (Clermont-Ferrand).  Ordering from Amazon, however, isn’t usually an option.  It’s a long way over there, folks.]  Delta standby, I’m counting on you!  [Thank you, Brendan!]

Isaiah 41:10   So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

GOOD NIGHT!

  1. You go girl! Patty forwarded your blog to me. Hope you don’t mind. Loved reading it. You are a hoot. What an experience you are embarking on! I was born in Verdun, France. My dad was in service. You will have to keep us abreast of all the hot new Paris fashions! My email is sbyko3@gmail.com. I would love it if you could add me to your list so I can take this journey with you. Praying for a smooth move and lots of exciting new joys in your future.

    1. Hi, Sherry! So glad you posted! You are OF COURSE welcome to read anything written! 🙂 As long as you don’t use it to incriminate me, naturally. Interesting about being a French-soil native – my boys are both German-born, so their birth certificates originated in the US Consulate in Munich. If I can figure out how to let people know that there’s a new blog, I will….otherwise, about every other/every 3 days, there will be a new post. 🙂 Would love to keep in close touch! ~Mindy

    2. PS – I’m not exactly the fashionista or a Parisian model, so I may disappoint you for fashion insider news! And thank you for the prayers….we all need them, all the time.
