LAST WEEK.
TODAY.
Soon, I promise, we’ll get back to talking about GOING to France instead of LEAVING Greenville. But not today!
Apartment living – weird. Empty house at 100 Lytle Street – completely weird. Age 57+, “homeless,” and sharing a car. Strange, strange, strange! We’ve just liquidated our life.
But, ah, such is the journey! Not everyone will think of our current chapter as achievement, but it is undoubtedly an adventure, and not for the faint of heart!
Next hurdle – all bow down to “THE VISA.” Good article [click here] about the obstacles of obtaining visas for France. We have the INTERVIEW at the French Consulate in Atlanta October 9th. (Really? An interview? What’s that all about?) Must have a Visa to board the plane with a one-way ticket — and it takes at least 10 working days after the Consulate appointment to GET the Visa. Also, no Visa = no shipping of household goods. Nothing leaves the port without the Visa. (Which means HOTEL on the other side….for weeks….)
Going to Tulsa soon! YEA! and to Georgia to see all of our kiddos! YEA! Bright spots and silver linings, to be sure!!!!!
So – about that French custom of “kiss to the left and kiss to the right”…Did you know the number of “air kisses” depends on the location in the country? Some areas have the custom of two kisses and some have three – or even four. That’s a lot of head-bobbing! Also, no contact is made with the mouth, even on the cheek. It’s just a “mwah!” sound and cheek touching….
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
