This is a pictorial of my day….wearing out my shoes. If you like Elvis, go ahead and hit “play” (music to read blogs by). If you don’t (I don’t either), skip the tunes!
PLEASE- take your shoes off – and slip mine on! Put yourself in my shoes!
I told Collette (oui, very French – the boss’ wife) that I would come visit her….and being an URBANITE without wheels, I decided to take the bus for my first time in France!
Moveit is a transportation/GPS app on my smartphone that is designed to plot out your journey, either driving, walking, or on public transportation. WARNING! THIS APP DOESN’T KNOW ITS HEAD FROM A HOLE IN THE GROUND.
You know where this is going, don’t you???
I hop on bus No. 9, following the instructions on the app, hoping that I’m going in the right direction. There IS a No. 9 going the other way. The bus driver is inspiring confidence by driving with one hand and eating his lunch with the other.
I’m tracking the bus stops on the app…yeah…okay… good…keep going….whoa! Wait! Why are we going THIS way? Stop! Turn around! Maybe, I think, he’s going to turn back up the hill, maybe he’s just winding around…
Four stops later, thinking bad words (in French) in my head, I jump off….and start walking UP.THE.HILL. BIG HILL. GIANT HILL! View from the top of the hill [remember, I live on the FAR side of the cathedral].
I arrive. We have tea. I get to play with the dog!
So now it’s time to go….oh, Bus No. 7, you say??? Not 9??? But Bus No. 7 only stops up here every three hours, and I have just missed it….bien sûr ! Start walking, sugarfoot!
Fortunately, the cathedral is my compass and it’s hard to miss! Here are the slices of life I saw along the way home.
FINALLY! Almost home.
Hope you have a great evening. Me, I’m going to put my feet up!
